Mandy Jacobson

Bio - Mandy Jacobson

Mandy Jacobson is an award-winning documentary filmmaker working between New York and South Africa over the past two decades. She won 2 Emmy Awards (Producer and Director) for Calling the Ghosts, about the experience of rape during the war in former Yugoslavia. The documentary was instrumental in the recognition of rape as a prosecutable war crime by the United Nations and her work was also featured on CNN, NBC Dateline and CBS Sixty Minutes in the USA. Her company, Indelible Media, produces the African Oral History Archive, a multi-media initiative that produces a range of creative tools (art, music, books, films) to encourage Africans to chart their collective memory. To mark South Africa’s Twenty years of Democracy, Jacobson produced and directed an award winning six-part Rainbow Makers Series that was broadcast across the Continent. One of the flagship films, Plot for Peace was released theatrically in South Africa, USA, UK, France, Spain, and Japan during 2015. It has garnered over 8 international awards and was released on NETFLIX. Other award-winning documentaries over her career include: With the Bill Moyers team, as Associate Producer, won the Peabody for PBS, Facing the Truth about South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Committee. For PBS/Wide Angle; Road to Riches explored black economic empowerment in South Africa’s new democracy. Mandy’s has also directed programs from Bangladesh, Cuba and Rwanda. Select others include Locked Up (Discovery/TLC), Defying Genocide (US Holocaust Museum); Tribute to Nelson Mandela, (SABC/BBC – series celebrating the Legend); Total Soccer 2010 Series – ETV. Member of the USA National Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences Chair; Joris Iven’s Jury Chair, Amsterdam International Documentary Festival (1999); Achievement Award from the South African Minister of Arts and Culture (2001.) Jacobson was selected to attend the Sundance Producers Lab in August 2007 with her feature film, Miriam Makeba.

John Nyoka

Bio - John Nyoka

John entered the Film andTelevision industry 14 years ago after joining Soul City’s Trainee Script Writers’ Programme in 2006, working under acclaimed head-writers Greg Latter, Brent Quinn and seasoned director Ntshaveni Wa Luruli. He has worked on multiple projects such as Mnet’s High School Musical, DV8’s State of Violence and subsequently as a freelancer for Born Free Media. John is an alumini of the National Film and Video Foundation of South Africa’s SEDIBA-Spark Narrative Fiction Scriptwriting Programme in 2010 and the SEDIBA International Financing Programme for Emerging Producers in 2011. He is also a Durban Talent alumini Script Station, after having been chosen top 4 from over 500 applications and has been a SAFTAs Judge for over 8 years. John has worked for Indelible Media for over ten years and is part of the team that has produced numerous award-winning documentaries.

Bio - Richard Mayes

Richard Mayes has a BA in Dramatic Art from Wits University majoring in Acting and Television Studies. He has worked on a variety of projects from reality to feature films. Prior to joining Indelible Media he worked with acclaimed editor Megan Gill. Richard is passionate about all things film and has gravitated towards post production, crafting emotional and resonating stories. No matter how many stories Richard has edited, he loves that he is constantly learning the art of storytelling.

Bio - Anelisa Mdlankomo

Young passionate storyteller, who always makes sure she delivers what the client asks for with extra magical creativity. She excels in all aspects to create a productive and fluid environment for the production process. Anelisa graduated with a Bachelor of Art in Film and Television at City Varsity. She has worked on various genres, comedy series, drama series, documentaries, and reality shows just to name a few. Anelisa aspires to be one of the best female editors recognized internationally.
